Waiting Child Program

For Every Waiting Child, There is a Waiting Family!

CCAI is honored to have served more than seven hundred and fifty families who wished to adopt children with special needs through the Waiting Child Program. Adopting a child through the Waiting Child Program takes a special family with extra determination, commitment, and love to give. However, as our references would love to tell you, adopting a special needs or older child is a source of joy beyond description.

Have you considered a child with minor or more serious special needs? Do you wonder if your family has “what it takes” to join this special program? Or how it would affect your adoption process? The information available on this page should help answer those questions.

The information below is designed to complement the materials available under Adoption Program and explain the differences between the Waiting Child Program and the traditional match program. Read on for information on the process, timeframe, variables, types of special needs that these children face, and the joys that distinguish the Waiting Child Program from the typical path of China adoption.
